Starting in 2014, HCCN took on the responsibility of providing this national evidence-based program in West Hawaii. Over 120 local family caregivers have developed the skills needed to handle the challenges of caring for a loved one.
PTC classes are held for six consecutive weeks, in two-hour sessions. Both in class and at home, you can refer to your free copy of The Caregiver Helpbook, developed specifically for PTC. The book covers a range of topics, including: hiring in-home help; caring for the memory-impaired; legal and financial issues; and finding a care facility.
Class size is limited to eight participants, with a nominal $10 registration fee. Pre-registration is required; walk-in registration will not be available.
Powerful Tools for Caregivers classes are presented in West Hawaii as a collaboration between HCCN and University of Hawaii Manoa Cooperative Extension, Maui, Aging and Intergenerational Programs, with additional funding from our generous sponsors. Mahalo!
